Siobhán Prendergast established Dingle Publishing in 2014.
In 2024, she won the Best Published Book of the Year at the prestigious Irish Language Book of the Year Publishing Awards having published her first book under the imprint in 2022.
Her books blend time-honoured, artisan printing and bookbinding with contemporary design techniques, creating a book that is in itself a piece of beautiful art that can be enjoyed time and time again.
Her career has seen her work with some of the best and most dynamic creatives of our time including former President of Ireland Mary McAleese; award-winning crime writers Ken Bruen and Peter Høeg; prominent politicians Gerry Adams and David Ervine; captivating authors such as Joanne Hayes and Salman Rushdie and artists Liam O’Neill and Maura Gilligan.
In 2020, Siobhán was shortlisted for an International Excellence Award by the Association for Publishing Education UK for her research on bringing traditional publishing standards to independent authors and invited to speak as part of the research showcase at the London Book Fair Insights Seminars at The Olympia in London.
A publisher, an editor and a grower of trees and vegetables, Siobhán is deeply embedded in the community and culture of the beautiful Dingle Peninsula, where she is based and from which she gains so much of her inspiration.
In 2019 she was instrumental in starting up the first literary festival on the peninsula, the Dingle Literary Festival, now one of the most important literary festivals of the calendar, and has featured authors such as Colm Tóibín, John Banville, Fintan O’Toole, Hugo Hamilton, Dónal Ryan, Diarmaid Ferriter, Brit Bennett, Abe Daré, Sophie White, Max Porter, Emma Dabiri, to mention but a few.
She loves her work on the literary programme of Féile na Bealtaine, which is one of Ireland’s largest and most eclectic music and arts festivals, celebrating the Celtic festival of Bealtaine, welcoming the summer to the Dingle Peninsula at the beginning of May each year.
She is a fluent Irish speaker and her children have been raised with Irish as their first language.
Siobhán has a Master of Arts with Distinction in Publishing from the University of Plymouth and an honours degree in English from University College Dublin. She is an Advanced Professional Member of the CIEP (Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading) formerly the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) in the UK and is a Full Member of the Association of Freelance Editors, Proofreaders and Indexers of Ireland (AFEPI Ireland).
Working with some of the best contemporary book designers, printers and artisan bookbinders, Siobhán is driven by the passions of her authors to produce beautiful bespoke books.
